The Manager's Daily Report

One page that summarises a whole trading day — sales, shifts, over and short, cashier performance, top products, voids, discounts, expenses and wastage — and how to have it emailed to you nightly.

This is the report to read if you only read one. Reports → Daily is a single-day summary written for whoever is responsible for the shop, and it answers "how did today actually go?" without you assembling it from four screens.

What is on it

  • Sales Summary — the day's totals, with payment methods and the order-type split.
  • Closed Shifts — each shift with its float, expected, actual, and Over/Short, plus who closed it and when.
  • Total Over/Short — the day's combined cash variance.
  • Cashier Performance — orders and revenue per person.
  • Top 5 Products — what actually sold.
  • Voids, Discounts, Expenses and Wastage — the four leaks, on one line each.
  • Overall Day Rating — a quick read on the day as a whole.

Everything is for one day, picked with the day selector.

How to read it in two minutes

Work in this order, because each answer changes what the next one means:

  1. Total Over/Short. Near zero, and the cash side of the day is done. A gap sends you to the individual shift and its note — see shifts.
  2. The four leaks. Voids, discounts, wastage, expenses. Any one unusually large is the day's story. Discounts and voids point at the counter; wastage points at the kitchen; a big expense is usually just a bill.
  3. Top 5 products. Sanity-check against what the kitchen felt like. A mismatch usually means an item is rung up under the wrong product.
  4. Cashier performance. Read it as coaching, not a scoreboard — order counts depend heavily on who worked the busy hours.
  5. Sales total. Last, because it is the number you already half-know, and reading it first colours everything above it.

The daily rhythm this supports

The value is in reading it daily. A problem caught tonight costs one day of trading; the same problem found in a monthly review has been running for four weeks.

Three consecutive days of the same signal is a pattern. One day is weather.

Get it emailed automatically

On Premium, switch on Email me the daily report under Settings → Daily Report Email. The summary arrives by email overnight, so the day is in your inbox before you open the shop.

This is the feature that makes daily review actually happen. A report you have to remember to open gets read for a week; a report that arrives on its own gets read for a year. It is also how you keep an eye on a shop you are not standing in.

Free plan history

Free plans read the current month, plus yesterday when yesterday falls in the previous month — enough for daily management. Premium opens any day in your history, which is what you need to compare this fiesta week against last year's.

Frequently asked questions

What does over/short mean on the daily report?

It is the difference between the cash counted in the drawer at shift close and the cash the system expected — starting float plus cash sales. Positive is an overage, negative is short. Card and GCash are excluded because they never entered the drawer.

Can Kasenso email me the daily report automatically?

Yes, on Premium. Switch on Email me the daily report in Settings and the summary is sent overnight, so it is waiting before you open.

Why is the report empty for a day I know we traded?

Almost always an unclosed shift. Much of the report is built from closed shifts, so a day that was never closed out shows as having no shifts. Close it, then reopen the report.

Does the daily report include expenses and wastage?

Yes — voids, discounts, expenses and wastage each appear as their own line, which is the point of the page. Sales alone do not tell you how a day went.

Who can see the Manager's Daily Report?

Admins always. A cashier sees it only if you tick the Daily Report page for them under staff permissions, and most shops leave it off.
