Getting started
Business settings, tax and service charge
Put your business name and logo on the receipt, set your tax name and rate, switch on a service charge, and choose which order types your shop actually offers.

Settings is where Kasenso learns what your business is called, what it charges on top of a price, and how it serves customers. Only an admin can open it, and most of it is a five-minute job you do once.
POS identity
This block is what a customer sees.
- Business / Company Name — printed at the top of every receipt and shown in the sidebar.
- Logo — JPG, PNG, SVG or WebP, up to 1 MB. There is a background colour setting beside it, which matters for logos with transparency.
- Business address and Contact No. — printed under the name.
- TIN — if you issue receipts that need one.
Get this right before you print anything for a real customer. It is the difference between a receipt and a scrap of paper.
Receipt settings
Controls what actually comes out of the printer.
- Paper Width — 58mm or 80mm. 58mm is the common small thermal printer; if your text wraps oddly, this is almost always the setting to check.
- Auto-Print After Payment — print without a second tap. Switch on for a busy counter, off if you only print on request.
- Temporary Receipt — marks receipts as provisional, for businesses not yet issuing official ones.
- Contact Info Shown to Customers — Facebook, Instagram, Viber. Free advertising on something the customer is already holding.
- Hide tax on receipt — for shops that do not itemise it.
The full printing walkthrough, including pairing a Bluetooth printer, is in receipts and Bluetooth printing.
Tax settings
Two fields: Tax Name and the rate. The name is what prints — VAT, or whatever applies where you are.
Kasenso treats tax as owed to the government and excluded from profit. It is shown separately in reports for exactly that reason: money you collect and pass on is not money you earned, and quietly counting it as revenue is how businesses talk themselves into thinking a thin month was a good one.
If you are not registered for tax, leave the rate at zero.
Service charge
Switch on Apply Service Charge and set a percentage. Unlike tax, a service charge is yours — it is counted in profit and reported as "not a tax, counted in profit", so the two never get confused in your figures.
Use it for dine-in service where it is customary. Check what is normal, and legal, in your area before switching it on.
Order types
Tick which of dine-in, takeout and delivery your shop offers. The cashier is asked to pick one at the start of every order, and untick the ones you do not do so nobody has to skip past them a hundred times a day.
The choice is not cosmetic. Order type drives:
- Which recipe components deduct — some packaging is set to deduct on takeout and delivery only.
- The Dine-in vs Takeout vs Delivery split in reports, which tells you whether that delivery arrangement is worth the trouble.
If you offer delivery, Delivery Areas & Fees is where you define zones and what each one costs.
Inventory alerts
Expiry Alert Lead Time sets how many days ahead an item is flagged as expiring soon. Set it to how long it realistically takes you to use something up — three days for fresh produce, longer for stock you buy in bulk. Too short and the warning arrives too late to act on.
Low-stock warnings come from each item's own threshold rather than a global setting; see inventory.
Online store
If you are on Premium, Accept Online Orders publishes a storefront at a link
of the form kasenso.com/store?s=yourshop, which you can put in a bio or a
chat. See the online store.
Data and backup
Export Full Backup writes your business data to a file you keep, and Restore Backup reads one back. Details, and the cases where restoring is and is not the right tool, are in back up and restore your data.
Danger zone
Delete Account schedules your account and all business data for permanent
deletion after a waiting period, and you have to type DELETE to confirm. The
delay exists so an accidental tap is recoverable. Once the period elapses, the
data is gone — export a backup first if there is any chance you will want it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between tax and a service charge in Kasenso?
Tax is treated as money owed to the government and is excluded from your profit figures. A service charge is treated as your revenue and is counted in profit. Both appear separately on the receipt and in reports, so you can always see which is which.
Will changing my tax rate change past receipts?
No. Orders store the tax name and rate that applied when they were rung up, so history stays accurate and a reprinted receipt matches the original.
Why does my receipt text wrap in the wrong place?
Almost always the paper width setting. Check whether your printer is 58mm or 80mm and set Paper Width to match — the receipt is laid out in characters per line, so the wrong width mis-wraps every line.
Can I turn off order types I do not use?
Yes. Untick anything you do not offer under order types and the cashier stops being asked about it. This is worth doing on day one; it removes a tap from every single order.
Do I need to fill in a TIN?
Only if your receipts require one. Leave it blank otherwise and nothing prints in that position.
Next: take your first order.
