Install the Kasenso Android app

Get Kasenso from Google Play, understand what the app does that a browser cannot, and set up a tablet that behaves like a proper till.

Kasenso runs in any modern browser, so you can start on a laptop today without installing anything. The Android app exists for the counter, where it does two things a browser cannot.

What the app adds

  • Bluetooth thermal printing to 58mm and 80mm receipt printers. This is the big one: a browser cannot talk to a Bluetooth printer, so if you print receipts, the app is not optional. See receipts and printing.
  • A proper full-screen till with no address bar, no tabs to lose, and no accidental back-navigation mid-order.

Everything else — the same data, the same account, the same reports — is identical. The app and the browser are two doors into one business.

Install it

Search for Kasenso POS on Google Play, or follow the Play badge on the home page. Install, open, and sign in with the account you already use. There is no separate mobile account and nothing to migrate.

The app is free. Premium is a property of your account, not of how you signed in.

Set up a tablet as a till

A few minutes of setup makes a tablet behave like a dedicated device:

  1. Keep it plugged in. A till that dies at 7pm is a till that costs you the evening.
  2. Turn off auto-rotate and lock it to the orientation you mounted it in.
  3. Lengthen the screen timeout so it does not sleep between customers.
  4. Turn off notifications from everything else. Nobody needs a message preview over the cart.
  5. Pair the printer in Android's Bluetooth settings before looking for it in Kasenso.
  6. Sign in and stay signed in. A device that is already signed in keeps working through an outage; a fresh sign-in needs a connection. See working offline.

A 10-inch tablet is the comfortable size for a counter. A phone works and is genuinely fine for a stall.

Keeping the app updated

Leave automatic updates on in Google Play. The version you are running is shown at the bottom of the sidebar — which is the first thing worth quoting if you ever contact us about a problem.

The rule about clearing app data

Never clear the app's data or uninstall while the offline banner is showing. Orders taken during an outage live on the device until they upload. Wait for Live Updates before doing anything drastic — reinstalling to fix a glitch mid-outage is how a day of sales gets lost.

If a device is misbehaving during an outage, use a second device and leave the first alone until it syncs.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Kasenso app for iPhone or iPad?

Kasenso is on Google Play for Android, and runs in Safari and any other modern browser on iPhone and iPad. What you cannot do on iOS is Bluetooth thermal printing, which requires the Android app.

Do I need the app, or is the browser enough?

The browser is enough for setup, reports and back-office work. You need the Android app if you want to print receipts to a Bluetooth thermal printer, and most counters prefer it anyway for the full-screen till.

Is the Android app free?

Yes. The app costs nothing and the free plan works fully inside it. Premium attaches to your account rather than to the app.

Can I use the app and the browser at the same time?

Yes — a tablet at the counter and a laptop in the back office, on the same account, at the same time. The data is in the cloud, so both see the same picture.

How do I know which version I am running?

It is printed at the bottom of the sidebar, under your account. Quote it if you ever report a problem.

Next: back up and restore your data.
